Yesterday is was 50 degrees here in Wisconsin! Wow January 11th and that warm is completely unheard of. With the warm weather it made me think of garage sales and flea markets oh boy I cannot wait to start looking at all the glorious junk. I love seeing what I can find and make new uses for.
(Just love the crazy stuff you find at flea markets)
Around here there are so many fun junking places to check out. The Upcycle Girls all time favorite is Elkhorn flea market. Every year I always find something worth buying. Throughout the years the attendance has spiked and if your coming around 8 am you could be waiting in line to get in. Prices have jumped up there along with the attendees but that does not stop us from making our way out there to see what we can find. If you are really on a budget try going at the end of the day and some of the vendors are a little more motivated to sell so they don’t have to pack up as much.Â
(Becca and I checking out some great yard art!)
There is also Maxwell Street Days in Mukwonago, although there are some direct sales vendors there are also quite a bit of junk vendors that are there yearly. Maxwell Street days is the two days every month in the summer. The town typically plans their garage sales around the events as well so while your on your way stop out at some of the garage sales too.
One other one we love is Ceaderburg Maxwell Street Days. This one is put on by the fire department and is the major fundraiser, which is great to know your money is going to a great cause! This flea market is big and lots of great finds. It has been quite a while since we have made our way there but hopefully we will this year.
Where ever you flea market some things to keep with you, a cart or large bag to carry your finds, tape measure, camera, hand sanitizer and a large vehicle. If it’s a hot day bring some water and some snacks with you. Most places have food for purchase but to be frank the food is never very good.
What are some of your favorite flea markets? We want to know about them so we can add them to our favoite junking list!
Thanks for reading and happy junkin!
You girls should make your way to st Charles Kane county flea market
I will check it out! Where is it located? Thanks!
